For any home with central air, ac service is an incredibly valuable skill to learn. It is important to address problems when they arise to prevent damage to the system. The more that is understood about air conditioner repair, the easier it becomes to handle.
Start by checking for common problems. The air filter for one, if not checked and replaced when dirty, can prevent the proper flow of air into the home. It does not have to be spotless, just replace it when too dirty or if you notice a change in the flow of air.
The next step, if the air filter was not the issue, is to check the ducts, both the number and the size. The ducts may need to be replaced if they have become too small or damaged, so keep this in mind.
From there, check the inside of the machine. One piece that should be checked is the evaporator coil, also known as the A-coil. In some cases, the issue may be a lack of refrigerant in the coils. This prevents them from cooling the air as it is blown through the machine. Another problem could be that the coil is too cold, preventing the proper flow of air.
